The comments come a week after the #GiveUsSpace campaign was launched in Donegal. Seven local theatre and performing arts groups issued an open letter calling for a dedicated creative centre to be built for rehearsals and prop building. The groups highlighted their difficulties in finding suitable rooms to rehearse in at key times in the evenings and weekends, when sports halls and fitness studios are regularly in use.The new reception at Pinehill Studios, Mountain Top LetterkennyIn a statement, Sarah Marie said she feels compelled to highlight the facilities available at Pinehill which were built to nurture talents and the arts in Letterkenny:I’m writing in response to an article published on 20th November 2019.  Highlighting a lack of suitable rehearsal space in the North West for Performing Acts from local Drama Groups & Societies.  I understand the plea for more space, however, I do not agree with the statement “what is sorely missed is a place, especially for children who have not got a keen interest in sports, where children and adults can develop both personally and artistically”. I feel obliged to respond with accurate information to support a true reflection of the arts provided in Letterkenny & the North West. As the owner & founder of Pinehill Studios and a facilitator of Performing Arts I feel compelled to make a statement on behalf of the 14 facilitators who on their own initiative have found adequate space and are committed & dedicated to expanding & nurturing the talents of children in the local community.Pinehill Studios established 2013, is a diverse facility for all things creative & dedicated to the bright future of cultural performing arts in Donegal, focused primarily on children’s development through dance, drama, performance, music & cultural education. The studios have been proudly developed/adapted and improved from the “once upon a time” warehouse building into an adequate/warm/safe and inclusive facility for children in Letterkenny & the surrounding areas of the North West.Pinehill Studios, Mountain Top LetterkennyThe purpose built studios, with mirrored walls, sprung floors and music systems in each space has become home to 14 permanent Arts Facilitators, along with 2 full time & 2 part time employees.  Each facilitator dedicates their time to nurturing the talents of the community from the age of 3 to teens & young adults, with over 70 hours of Dance, drama, performance, music & cultural educational classes timetabled each week, suitable for the 500+ children partaking in arts orientated classes at Pinehill Studios, growing their talents, building confidence, gaining experience & knowledge. Pinehill Studios, Mountain Top LetterkennyPinehill Studios, Mountain Top LetterkennyPinehill Studios, Mountain Top LetterkennyPinehill Studios, Mountain Top LetterkennyPinehill Studios, Mountain Top LetterkennyPinehill Studios, Mountain Top LetterkennyThe community at Pinehill Studios has grown with many opportunities over the years for students, having created many productions & events, collaborating with onsite facilitators & external facilitators, inclusive of local community, cultural & charitable events.  Many of Pinehill Studios students perform with a number of drama groups/societies locally in their annual productions. The studios can facilitate many needs in the community for arts/performances & culture including groups from the public sector/mental health/speech and play therapy/OT/education schools/council funded projects etc.  Pinehill Studios aims to contribute to the culture of the Performing Arts in Ireland and is happy to facilitate Drama Groups with rehearsal space at any time.Currently in its 7th year of business, Pinehill Studios has independently invested & expanded from a 2 Studio to 4 Studio facility with the addition of a 5th Studio & brand new reception area under construction.  The new entrance reception at Pinehill Studios, Mountain Top Letterkenny2019/2020 is the most successful year in Pinehill Studios history.  With the official opening of the new studio and reception in January and the Annual Charity Event Dance Addictions in aid of Donegal Mental Health on February 1st.  And continuing future growth for dance, drama, performance, music & culture.I would also like to highlight, Pinehill Studios is only 1 of a number of facilities in Letterkenny & the North West dedicated and committed to children who enjoy Cultural Arts programs.   I encourage the community, local productions and all societies, performing artists, creative and cultural groups to support facilities already available and increase awareness of the arts with a positive intention to create even more diverse facilities in the area for future generations to enjoy. Redknapp pleased with QPR’s defending

first_imgHarry Redknapp praised QPR for their defending after their defeat at Stamford Bridge and admitted he had been worried about the threat from Chelsea’s corners. The Premier League leaders, who ran out 2-1 winners in the west London derby, boast plenty of pace, skill and firepower with the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Diego Costa. But they are also a physically strong side that pose a major problem for opposing defences at set-pieces.Redknapp said: “It’s difficult to come here because they have so much talent, so much ability and also so much strength.Rangers were beaten by Eden Hazard’s 75th-minute penalty“We defended so many corners early on. The one thing I was dreading before the game as much as anything was corner kicks.“They have so much power in the air. They’ve probably got six people who are fantastic headers of the ball. But we dealt with those corners great.“Our keeper was excellent today and the two centre-halves defended for their lives.I couldn’t be more pleased with the way we worked.”Redknapp was also encouraged to see striker Charlie Austin get on the scoresheet again.Austin’s fifth goal of the season cancelled out Oscar’s opener before Eden Hazard’s disputed penalty won the match for Jose Mourinho’s side.“It’s good for Charlie to be scoring,” said the Rangers boss.“He’s on a good run at the moment, scoring some goals, and I was pleased all around.”See also:Redknapp bemoans ‘harsh’ penalty decisionMourinho unhappy despite derby victoryChelsea boss Mourinho impressed with Redknapp and QPRHazard’s penalty sees off gutsy RangersCosta backed after subdued displayChelsea v QPR player ratingsFollow West London Sport on TwitterFind us on Facebooklast_img read more

What farm moms want for Christmas

first_imgShare Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Farm women can be hard to shop for. This brings up many challenges around Christmas time. While practicality is nothing to frown at, this mindset makes it hard when asked what one wants for Christmas.I’ve delved in to my resources (o.k. my group of awesome dairy ladies) and picked their brains as to what great gifts for them would be this year. Some involve the home, some are self pampering and some people just want to have a scraper for cow poo they never lose again!Car careThe farm mom mobile is often used to haul kids to school and then an occasional load of feed and maybe a calf or two in a pinch. Give gifts to help mom keep her car presentable!Car detailingSeat coversAir freshnersFloor matsInstaPot or crock pot There is nothing better than coming in from the barn to an already made meal! While the InstaPot has been all the chatter lately a new crock pot can be just as appreciated. If you’re going to gift cookware for Christmas check out the pretty new prints by Pioneer Woman! This one is available at Walmart.RoombaLiving on the farm can drag in more dust and dirt than ever imagined! Barn cameras and alert systems are a great way to do that! Products like Moo Call and closed circuit cameras can give mom a piece of mind outside of the barn.IlluminationDependable flashlights and head lamps — don’t leave mom in the dark. On The Power of Being Nice

first_img Get the Free eBook! Learn how to sell without a sales manager. Download my free eBook! You need to make sales. You need help now. We’ve got you covered. This eBook will help you Seize Your Sales Destiny, with or without a manager. Download Now I’m not suggesting that you can’t be demanding. I’m not even remotely suggesting that you shouldn’t have knock down, drag out productive disagreements. And, I’m not intimating that you should be a softie, a cupcake, a cream puff, or that you should let anyone walk all over you (ever). But there is a difference between being resolute and demanding, and just being mean, unpleasant, foul, or abusive. Here’s a couple observations I’ve made recently.People Know You Care About ThemWhere managers and leaders are mean, foul, or bully their people, they have the kind of serious cultural issues that prevent results. Where managers and leaders are nice to their people, they produce better results, they have higher engagement, and they have lower turnover. This doesn’t mean that nice managers and leaders are not demanding; they are. But it’s the manner in which they are demanding that makes the difference. They are pleasant, supportive, and they have the “servant leader” mindset. If people believe you care about them, they tend to work differently.Think back over your experiences. You’ve never seen a great leader treat people at lower levels of the organizational chart poorly.People Are EngagedThe last decade, with it’s two major recessions, may have been the most stressful period in a Century. Business changed dramatically.I used to believe that there are times when force is necessary to getting results. The more urgently you need some result, the more important it is that everyone do his or her part. But force causes resistance . . . and resentment.Persuasion and inclusion are more powerful. They create a sense of ownership, a sense of purpose and meaning, and a greater commitment. Consensus doesn’t mean that everyone has to agree; it means that everyone is considered. And it produces a higher level of engagement. What if people resist? What if they simply refuse do what is necessary? Part company, but be nice while doing so—you are being watched.People Follow Your LeadWant your people to be nice to your clients, vendors, each other? Want them to assume everyone has good intentions, that it’s not their lack of trying or stubbornness causing problems? Then be nice.As a leader, you set the tone. People are going to look for you to understand the boundaries of acceptable behavior in your organization. Being a leader doesn’t give you a license to set the boundaries differently for you (or the rest of your leadership team).People are watching. They aren’t going to do what you say; they’re going to do what you do.Being Nice Is FreeNice is free. It doesn’t cost a penny more, but it’s a tremendous, results-producing investment in your company and your team.Being nice doesn’t mean that you lack candor, that you can’t be demanding, and that you can’t engage in productive arguments and disagreements. It means that you cannot be mean, that you have to care about people, and that you have to be decent and treat people well.last_img read more

Wanted to make Sultan only with Salman: Ali Abbas Zafar

first_imgMumbai, May 25 (PTI) All set for his next big directorial release “Sulatan” with Salman Khan, Ali Abbas Zafar said he wanted to make the film only with the superstar.”I think I am fortunate enough to work with Salman sir. Whenever you write a character you visualise an actor thinking he can pull it off well. Our producer Aditya Chopra and I were very clear that we would do this film only if Salman sir agrees to do it,” Ali told reporters here at the trailer launch of “Sultan” last evening. The “Mere Brother Ki Dhulan” director gave the “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” star about 20 minutes of narration (of the film) and Salman told him that he relates to it.”Whenever you go to a star with a character you think if the character justifies the stardom of the star. He has worked with so many directors… His career spans over 25 years so he has lot of experience and you cant ignore it,” he said.”There is lot of Salman in the film because his contribution to the text (story) is phenomenal. He never pointed bigger things to me he pointed smaller things. My learning from this film is that the depth of things lies in small things,” he said. The sports-drama is a story of the rise and fall of a wrestler from Haryana, essayed by Salman and has Anushka Sharma opposite him.”It is a fictional story. It is the story of an Indian, it is about relationship and sport is the backdrop of this film. One thing common about life and wrestling is that people fall but life is all about getting up and not giving up. This film is all about that,” Ali said.advertisementThe film is produced by YRF Films and is Salmans annual Eid release set to open on July 6. PTI KKP ARS NDSlast_img read more

CEO behind purchase of Bombardiers Q400 line to keep production in Canada

first_imgMONTREAL – The head of the B.C. company that scooped up Bombardier Inc.’s Q400 turboprop business has pledged to keep all manufacturing already in Canada within the country. The Q400 series is a “natural fit” for Longview Aviation Capital, chief executive David Curtis said in an interview.“We like to say, ‘It’s the same colour of paint.’ In other words, the same production processes.”Bombardier announced on Thursday it is selling the Q400 program to a Longview subsidiary for about US$300 million, on top of the sale of its flight training business to CAE Inc. for about US$645 million. The Montreal-based company manufactures roughly 28 to 30 Q400 aircraft annually at its Downsview property in Toronto, land that the company sold earlier this year to the Public Sector Pension Investment Board.Bombardier has a lease on the property until 2021, with a two-year extension option.“There’s no question, the writing’s on the wall — we’ve go to move,” Curtis said.“We don’t know yet what we’re going to do, and until we get in there and talk with the folks about what’s the market opportunity, we don’t have any decisions.”Any future production site will “absolutely not” leave Canadian soil, he said. “We wouldn’t outsource it.”Longview, whose subsidiary Viking Air Ltd. makes turboprop aircraft such as the Twin Otter, intends to maintain supply chains for the Q400 series that currently stretch from China to Ireland to Mexico, he added. The deal, which is slated to close in the second half of 2019, positions Longview to more than triple its annual revenue to $1 billion, Curtis said.Union and opposition leaders in Quebec spoke out against Bombardier’s move Thursday to lay off 5,000 workers, including 500 in Ontario and 2,500 in Quebec, as part of a restructuring plan that cuts more than 12 per cent of its Canadian positions.Mary Ellen McIlmoyle, president of a Unifor local that represents some of the 2,100 workers at Bombardier’s aerospace wing at Downsview, said her members feel “betrayed.”“During bargaining in April, the company said they were keeping the Q400,” she said. “It was a huge shock when we found they turned around and sold it.”Workers’ lack of certainty about the Downsview facility — which makes cockpits and wings, among other components — after 2021 is their “biggest concern,” she said.“Our members are worried about it being moved to B.C.”Companies in this story: (TSX:BBD.B, TSX:CAE)last_img read more
