first_imgSource = e-Travel Blackboard: N.J Virgin Australia has welcomed a 0.5 percent growth in its domestic operations in the month of August compared to last year.Carrying 1.4 million passengers around Australia, up from the 1.3 million in August last year came as relief as the carrier’s international operations fell by 19.7 percent.The drop from 261,202 in August 2010 to 209,656 this year pushed the carrier’s year to date international load down 20.3 percent to 433,936 compared to the corresponding period last year 544,936.While the number of passengers flying with the carrier fell, its revenue passenger kilometers rose 4.6 percent to 1,018 million on overseas flights for the month, up from 973 million. Overall for the year-to-date Virgin’s international revenue passenger kilometers rose 4.2 percent to 2,034 million.The Australia-based airline also saw its on-time performance hike up 3.1 points in August to 85.6 percent from 82.5 percent.last_img
