Is Anyone Really Surprised Red Dead Redemption 2 Has Been Delayed to

first_imgStay on target Late last year, RockStar Games announced Red Dead Redemption 2. At the time, the company stated the game would be released in the fall of 2017. Anyone who knows the history of RockStar’s releases knows the company often delays their titles. It should come as no surprise then that Red Dead Redemption 2 will not be coming to consoles this holiday.“Red Dead Redemption 2 is now set to launch Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” said RockStar on its website. “This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.”The company went on to say: “We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready. We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer.”RockStar is in an enviable position. Unlike a lot of other developers, the company can take as much time as it needs to develop games. 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V is still practically printing money for the company. Despite being almost half a decade old, GTAV is a mainstay of the NPD group’s top ten game sales in America each month. RockStar could theoretically delay Red Dead Redemption 2 for another two years without hurting their bottom line. While it’s disappointing that we won’t get to travel back to the Old West this Fall, we’ll have plenty to keep us occupied. With Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Destiny 2, Call of Duty: WWII, and more, this holiday is shaping up to be a busy one. Having Red Dead Redemption 2 delayed to Spring 2018 could almost be seen as a blessing since that is one less game to add to our backlogs.Below are some Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshots RockStar released to tide us over until we get more information about the game this summer.
